In a classroom of thirty, a teacher cannot stop for one confused student. In a one-to-one session there is nobody else to move on for. The tutor watches how the student thinks, finds the exact point where the reasoning breaks, and rebuilds from there instead of covering the syllabus again at speed.
Every individual placement starts with a diagnostic rather than an assumption. We look at recent work, current marks and the topics the student avoids, then write a plan with a small number of concrete targets. That plan is shared with the family and reviewed openly every few weeks.

We review recent classwork and run a short assessment so the tutor arrives knowing exactly which foundations are missing, not guessing from a grade.
Three to five specific targets for the term, in plain language, with the order they will be tackled and what evidence will show they are met.
Tutors are matched on subject depth, age group experience and working style. If the match is wrong we change it without argument or charge.

Confidence usually moves first, often within three or four sessions, because the student stops being the one who is lost. Marks follow later and depend on how much ground there is to cover, how often you meet and what happens between sessions. We would rather tell you at the six week review that progress is slower than expected than let you find out from a report card.
Yes, at any point and without a fee. Personality fit matters as much as subject knowledge, particularly with teenagers. Tell the coordinator what is not working and we will propose an alternative, usually within a week.
We follow the curriculum and the assessment calendar the school is actually using, and we ask for recent feedback and marked work. We do not contact teachers directly unless a family asks us to and gives permission.
These programmes are often combined. Many families run one alongside another, or move between them as the year progresses.
